London-based kids’ entertainment specialist CAKE has signed a deal with Glee’s executive music producer Adam Anders to distribute hit teen musical series Kally’s MashUp. CAKE will manage exclusive broadcast rights in the UK and Eire, Northern and Eastern Europe, Asia, Oceania, Middle East and Africa for the teen family comedy, which was created by Glee’s executive music producer Adam Anders. The show is executive produced by Anders and Powwow 360’s Daniel Gutman.
Inspired by Anders’ own life, the 75 x 60 series aimed at 7-14 year-olds follows Kally, a 13-year-old music prodigy, after she moves from a small town to the most prominent music academy in the country where she is the youngest student. With a brilliant future ahead of her, Kally must balance her life as a classical piano virtuoso with being a regular teenager and her dreams of becoming a pop star.
Kally’s MashUp premiered pan-regionally on Nick Latam on 23 October last year and became the top rated show on the network. All songs are recorded and shot in English, a first for a children’s youth-oriented series in the region. Kally’s MashUp is a co-production between Nick Latam, Anders, his US production company Anders Media Inc and Daniel Gutman’s 360 Powwow. Featuring original songs composed by Anders and his wife, Nikki Anders, and long-time collaborator, Peer Astrom. Anders serves as exec producer and oversees all of the music that appears on the show.
Ed Galton, CCO & Managing Director, CAKE said, “We were deeply impressed with the level of quality Adam and Daniel were able to achieve in this musical series. Kally’s MashUp has already achieved some impressive figures and its original musical score with songs shot in English gives this unique format huge global potential.”
Daniel Gutman, CEO, Powwow, added “It is a privilege for us as producers and for Kally’s MashUp as a uniquely original show to have CAKE as a travel companion to expand its international journey into new demanding territories.”
Adam Anders, CEO, Anders Media INC. was quoted as saying “Working on something this fresh and exciting and at the same time uniquely personal has been a dream. We could not be more thrilled with everyone involved from cast and crew to our production partners, and are happy to add CAKE to the list of people adding real value to this project”
