Meet The Team

Tom van Waveren

Tom van Waveren

CEO & Creative Director

Tom began his career in animation at Nelvana in 1996 as Director of its London office. In 1999, Tom moved to Copenhagen to head up Egmont Imagination as its President where he was involved in the production of over 100 hours of animation.

Tom started his own company in 2004 and merged his pipeline of projects with CAKE in 2006. Since that date, he has been responsible for scouting, development and the executive production of all CAKE content.

Tom has been nominated three times for a daytime Emmy and is currently overseeing a development slate involving properties from pre-school to animation for 6-12 years as well as overseeing all CAKE's current productions.

Tom is CEO and Creative Director at CAKE, as well as the Chair of APN, Animation Producers Netherlands, and Vice-Chair of Animation in Europe, where he is working to improve support for the European animation industry.

Edward Galton

Edward Galton

CCO & Managing Director

A veteran distribution professional with over 20 years experience under his belt, Ed is the Managing Director and Chief Commercial Officer at CAKE, and a shareholder. In this dual role, he oversees all sales operations, the day-to-day running of the company, as well as directly selling CAKE's growing content portfolio in major territories including North America, Scandinavia, the UK and Australia. Before joining CAKE, Ed spent six years as EVP of Business Development for the award-winning French animation company Xilam, built his international TV expertise and contact base working in London and Hamburg as COO for Igel Media, in Paris as VP of International Sales for Gaumont, and in New York as Director of International Sales for Fox Lorber Associates.

Ben White

CFO

Ben is providing support to our business across all parts of the finance function but with particular focus on business planning, performance review and enhancement, cash flow management and funding. Ben has been the Finance Director and CFO to a number of private and publicly listed businesses, many with exposure to international markets and has a particular history in the media sector having held senior roles at both Gullane and HIT Entertainment. Ben qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Deloitte in 1997.

Jonathan Dyer

Head of Business Affairs

Jonathan has almost 20 years IP rights management and licensing experience. He cut his teeth at BBC Worldwide, working across titles such as Teletubbies, Doctor Who and The Weakest Link. Then followed time at Nelvana and TV Loonland before joining CAKE as Head of Business Affairs in 2010.

Bianca Rodriguez

Bianca Rodriguez

Head of Sales

Bianca oversees the international sales strategy of the CAKE catalogue as well as handling sales in Canada, Germany, Italy, Benelux, Scandinavia, Iberia and Spanish speaking Americas. With over 14 years experience in the TV industry, Bianca has experience in both production and distribution of content and she has previously worked for companies such as MediaPro and Miss World before joining CAKE in 2011.

Head of Finance

Nick is a skilled business, process analyst and change manager who combines over 15 years of financial management experience with a broad commercial awareness, within Television & Media & AD Agency environments. Before joining CAKE, Nick was assisting SMEs with their business requirements and development as Former Head of Finance at Leopard Films/Arganon, MK Universal, PULSE and C&C London.

Emily Whinnett

Emily Whinnett

VP Creative

Emily works on CAKE's development slate. With over 10 years experience in the children's TV industry, Emily worked for Chapman Entertainment on iconic shows including Fifi and the Flowertots, Roary the Racing Car, Little Charley Bear and Raa Raa the Noisy Lion and for Spinmaster Entertainment's Paw Patrol.

Rob Doherty

VP of Production

Rob works alongside Tom and Emily supporting CAKE’s growing slate of co-productions, overseeing ongoing and future production partnerships.
With over 25 years of experience in animation and children’s television, Rob has worked for leading companies including Aardman Animations, Disney and ITV, as well as creating and managing the recruitment and social networking event, Festivus.

Julien Farçat

Sales Manager

Julien handles sales in France, French speaking territories, Asia and Eastern Europe. Before joining Cake in 2017, Julien was in charge of an extensive catalogue at NBCUniversal and distributed content and channels at BFMTV/RMCSport. Julien has over 10 years experience in the TV industry and has a legal background.

Bassma handles sales in Africa, Middle East, Turkey, Greece, Cyprus and Israel as well as managing in-flight entertainment sales. Before joining CAKE in October 2018, Bassma worked in TV distribution at Lionsgate across series and movie sales for 4 years.

Charlie Kennedy

Charlie Kennedy

Creative & Production Executive

Charlie joined CAKE in January 2019 and works on the editorial side of the production and development slates. Charlie previously worked with Passion Pictures and Brown Bag Films on the scripting and voiceover production of animated series for Disney including 101 Dalmatian Street. Prior to that, he was involved in the development of live action content for companies including The Producers Films, Amber Entertainment and Ealing Studios. Charlie has a degree in Literature & Creative Writing.

Tanya Peck

Marketing Manager

Tanya joined CAKE in 2015 and is responsible for marketing, PR and making us look good. She has 20 years experience in television in both sales and marketing; for children's channels and in distribution. Tanya has worked for companies including Zone Vision (now AMC Networks), Fox Kids (now Disney), Igel Media and Indigo Film & Television.

Aleix Catala

Operations and Digital Coordinator

Aleix joined CAKE in 2017 and is responsible for digital and operations. He previously worked at Discovery for five years as a content operations coordinator. Aleix was born and raised in Barcelona and has also worked as a sound recordist on feature films both in London and New York.

Business Affairs Executive

Jon joined CAKE in 2019 and works in Business Affairs. Prior to CAKE, Jon worked at Discovery in their legal department. He is a Canadian qualified barrister and solicitor with private practice experience in IP, corporate and commercial law.

Odilia joined CAKE in March 2015 and is responsible for supporting the Marketing Department as well as assisting the social media and YouTube teams. Odilia previously interned at Studio 100 Benelux in Belgium after completing a Masters in Branding at Goldsmiths, University of London.

Caitlin Worthington

Executive PA

Caitlin joined CAKE in October 2018 as Executive PA to Directors Ed and Tom, as well as managing the office. She has a BA (Hons) degree in Art History from the University of Manchester. Caitlin has previously worked as both a PA and curator in the art industry and has also had experience as part of the content team at an SVOD kids' platform.
